The preparation of a National Strategy for the Third Age and a National Action Plan was announced by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Ms Marilena Evangelou, in the framework of the 3rd Pancyprian Love March "I walk for the Third Age", in Finyi, organised by the Cyprus Civic Presbyterian Organization and the Community Welfare Council (CCC) of Finyi, which was held under the auspices of the European Seniors' Union (ESU).
The National Strategy aims, among other things, at active ageing, improving living conditions, empowering older people, inclusion, lifelong learning and the provision of quality support and care services.
Ms Evangellou, who attended the 3rd Pancyprian Love March "Walk for the Third Age" representing the President of the Republic Mr Nicos Christodoulides, told greeting that the Coordinating Body of the National Strategy and National Action Plan for the Third Age is the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare with inter-ministerial participation, as well as the participation of all relevant bodies.
As she assured: "The State Ministry of Social Welfare will not sit on its hands until the National Strategy is drawn up. I am in constant contact with all those who, through synergies, can contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly and I am glad because I find a response."
In conclusion, Ms. Evangelou said: "To our seniors we owe not only a big thank you, but also our unlimited appreciation and love. On behalf of the Nicos Christodoulides Government, I assure you that we are by your side, always supporting you, but also accompanying you on a path towards a just society for all, an inclusive society, an inclusive society in all areas of our lives, for all generations."
