Our goal is not to create any challenge to the buffer zone or to create any comparative advantage for the Turkish occupying forces, President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides said tonight.

Speaking to reporters, while attending an event in Aradippou, President Christodoulides, when asked about the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Turkey, said that "we have not yet been informed about the results of the meeting, we will be informed, possibly tonight. Beyond that, you understand that the resolution of the Cyprus issue, progress towards the resumption of talks will be crucial in improving Greek-Turkish relations as well. And this is a position that the Greek Prime Minister himself has expressed."

Asked about the issue of Pyla, the President said that "on the issue of Pyla some processes are underway, there is no agreement. What I can tell you is that our goal is not to create any challenge to the buffer zone as it has been defined since 1974 or to create any comparative advantage for the Turkish occupation forces."

Moreover, asked whether he had a meeting with the Minister of Justice and the Chief of Police today, the President replied in the negative, adding, however, that he had spoken by telephone with the Minister of Justice on two occasions on issues of concern to her.

Asked whether any resignations were brought before him, the President said that "I have nothing to report on this particular issue. What I am interested in right now is how we deal with a real problem that is not called Immigration, but it is called Securing Public Order. I have spoken many times about Migration, it is a priority for the Government to deal with it, today the Minister of Interior had the opportunity to mention all that we have done in the last six months, more people are leaving our country than coming, the number of applications being processed has increased, all the relevant services are being significantly strengthened and I can say with certainty that we will deal with this issue.
