It is with great pleasure that I am with you today for the opening of the charity photography exhibition "Routes", organised by the Association of Liver Patients and Friends of Cyprus, "PROMETHEAS".

The renowned photographer Mrs. Efrosini Georgiou, through the art of photography, attempts today to lead us on routes that she herself has chosen and loved. She conveys her experiences and shares with us her feelings, creatively transferring images on photographic paper. But beyond that, she chose to exhibit her works for a charitable cause, an act that shows her love, not only for photography, but also for people.

Efrosini Georgiou was born in Athens and from a young age she remembers working with colors, shadows and lines. With her brio, her passion and her love for the photographic art she managed to stand out. Today she is considered a very successful and award-winning photographer, both in Greece and in Cyprus.

She started working with digital art several years ago and as she says, what inspired her was the inseparable connection between expression and photography. Her works, simple, simple, with clear messages, adorn many exhibitions and homes.

Her current collection is inspired by the "odyssey" that a patient experiences when going abroad for a transplant, waiting for a donor to give him the greatest gift of life in order for his life to continue. Hence the symbolic title of today's exhibition, "Routes".

The "routes" of Ms. Efrosini Georgiou in the photographic art reflect not only the quality of her character but also her love for her fellow man. The purpose of this exhibition is to help our fellow human beings, the patients, the less fortunate in health matters.

Friends,

The Association of Liver Patients and Friends of Cyprus "PROMITHEAS", is the first association of patients with hepatological problems in Cyprus. Since 2015, it has set as its goal to inform and raise awareness about the growing problem of hepatitis as well as to defend the rights of chronically ill patients and in particular, easier access to diagnostic tests, medication and psychological support.

The organization of this special exhibition of creative photography and other charity events will help to support patients with liver disorders. As we all know, the help in various areas offered by the organised patient associations is important for our fellow sufferers and contributes to the state's efforts to achieve the best possible for the Cypriot patient.

The Ministry of Health and I personally, are always on the side of the patients and support efforts aimed at helping our suffering fellow human beings and preventing diseases.

In this context, our efforts for the establishment of a Hepatology Clinic are part of this effort, which we hope will have a happy outcome as soon as possible. We are in constant contact with King's College and Royal Free London Hospitals, which I visited last October, and I believe that within the next few months we will have good news.

In conclusion, I would like to congratulate the Association of Patients and Friends of the Liver for this commendable initiative and Mrs Euphrosyne Georgiou for her kind offer. I wish you all a wonderful journey through the world of photographic art.
