Denying rumors that he has left the country, the Ukrainian President posted a new video from his office in Kiev on the 12th day of the war and accused Russian forces of preventing the evacuation of civilians
A new message was released by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he blames Russia for the failure of efforts to remove civilians and assures that he will not leave Kiev even though the Russian forces are tightening their grip and fighting is taking place.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday Monday blamed the Russian military for the failure of efforts to evacuate civilians through so-called humanitarian corridors, organised after negotiations between Kiev and Moscow.
They mined the road
"We agreed on the humanitarian corridors. Did they work? Did Russian tanks, Grants (Russian rocket launchers), mines work," Zelensky denounced in a taped message uploaded to the Ukrainian presidency's account on the Telegram platform.
He also accused Russian forces of "mining the road agreed to be used to transport food and medicine" to besieged Mariupol, in southern Ukraine, and "destroying buses" that would have taken civilians out of the war zones.
He accused Russia of "cynicism", saying it had opened "a very small corridor to the occupied territories for a few dozen people" for "propaganda purposes", for "the cameras to show them."
He noted, however, that negotiations with Moscow would continue. "We are realistic. That's what we will talk about. We will stick to negotiations until we find a way to say to our people: this is how we reached peace."

"I live here, I live in Kiev," he said. "It is the twelfth night of our struggle (...). We are all here, everyone is working. I am in Kiev, my team is with me," he insisted. Every day that Ukraine fights creates "better conditions", he further claimed.
According to the Ukrainian president's services, all Ukrainian military personnel who were deployed on missions abroad (Kosovo, DR Congo, Ivory Coast, according to Ukrainian media) were recalled to Ukraine

In his new message, Zelenski says the following, among other things. It's the 12th day of the 12th week of the season. I am in Kiev. My team is with me. The military are in their places. Our heroes! Doctors, rescuers, transporters, diplomats, journalists...[/I]
Everyone. We are all at war. We are all contributing to our victory, which will surely be achieved. With the power of our arms and our army. With the power of our words and our diplomacy. With strength of spirit, which the first, the second and each of us has.
Take a look at our country today. Everywhere people are defending themselves, though they have no weapons.
They have courage. Dignity. Every Ukrainian and Ukrainian who protested against the invaders yesterday, today and will protest tomorrow are heroes.
We do not back down.
We are not afraid of tanks and machine guns. When the main thing is on our side, the truth. As it is now.
We know that the hatred the enemy has brought to our cities by bombing will not remain there. The hatred is not about us. We will rebuild everything.
The Ukrainian army is holding positions. Bravo! It is inflicting extremely painful losses on the enemy.
The third round of negotiations in Belarus took place today. I would like to say - the third and final one. But we are realistic. So we will talk. We will stick to the negotiations until we find a way to say to our people: this is how we will come to peace.
Exactly about peace.
Moscow yesterday morning announced a ceasefire in several locations and the opening of corridors to allow civilians to flee Ukrainian cities under siege, as the humanitarian crisis worsens with each passing day and food is now scarce.
But Kiev has refused to evacuate civilians to Russia, where four of the six corridors proposed by Moscow led, or to Belarus. After new negotiations, Russia announced that a new ceasefire would go into effect today locally from 09:00 to allow the civilians to leave. The routes to be followed remain to be approved by the Ukrainian side.
Now I will say one thing: I live here.
I live in Kiev.
On Banova Street.
I am not hiding.
And I am not afraid of anyone.
As long as it takes to win this war!", he concludes.
