Huge efforts for replacements, says Presidential Advisor on Education C. Scalias What he says about the problem due to circumstances
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth and the Education Service Commission are making tremendous efforts around the clock for the immediate resolution of any problem regarding the finding of replacements, says, in a written statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Education, George Scalias.
"Regarding statements that have been made and which relate to the issue of substitutes in public schools of all levels, I would like to assure all those involved, students and especially the trade union educational organizations OELMEK and PDOED and the representatives of parents nationwide that both the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth as well as the Education Service Committee, are making huge efforts around the clock to immediately resolve any problem that may arise regarding the finding of replacements," he adds.
However, says Mr. Scalias, despite the tireless and continuous efforts of the aforementioned institutions, it is known, I think, at least to the educational organizations, that as far as replacements are concerned, it is not only sufficient for the institutions responsible for them to be activated, but also the positive acceptance of the invitation on the part of the teachers called for this purpose.
"I warmly ask the trade union educational organizations OELMEK and PDOED, in the context of our cooperation, to contribute to the normalization of the problem, to the extent of their strengths, by appealing to the teachers who are called for replacement to accept it, especially today under these difficult conditions for the country, thus offering a huge service to students, parents and Cypriot society in general," he concludes.
