In a statement, the Mayor of Paphos commented on the case, expressing satisfaction with the arrests.
Among other things, he expresses anger and criticizes the ineffective attitude of the Police, as he stresses that they ignored his appeals.
In detail the statement of the Mayor of Paphos:
"Today I do not feel justified but angry.
In recent years it was known to the police that in the apartment in ... street on the ... floor there was drug trafficking and more.
I was forced due to the ineffective attitude of the police after private briefings that I personally made many months earlier about what was happening in the apartment to come out publicly to speak out since they ignored my pleas.

I was forced due to the ineffective attitude of the police to come out publicly to speak out since they ignored my pleas.
I am personally aware of the dangers when a public figure makes allegations against drug dealers and trafficking rings . Finally, after the pressures exerted due to the publicity given to this case, a coordinated operation was carried out by the YKAN and drugs and stolen items were found in this apartment. Specifically Methamphetamine 141g.Cocaine 3g. 54 tablets of ecstasy. Cannabis 54.5g. cannabis resin 1g.
A large number of jewelry such as 26 watches and 164 jewelry 7 portable computers 1 amphora type clay pot 1 electric hand shaker 28 mobile phones 6 tablets 2 electronic devices 1 GPS device and a sum of money 1200 euros in cash as a result 4 persons were arrested . I cannot feel justified because the complaint I made was correct and true but I feel angry because in an organized and favored state the actions of the bodies and services of the state should be self-evident when they are aware of such situations.Unfortunately..............
P.C The head of the YKAN in this case did his job well even if delayed.
I remind publicly that the three main drug dealers in Paphos who are known to the police and dozens of times I have spoken with the police leadership continue their trade as usual.
I also remind publicly that at least ten shops in which illegal electronic gambling and/or loan sharking is carried out which are also known to the police for some years continue their activities undisturbed. I inform you in advance that what I am reporting is within the full knowledge of the police and I do not accept the claim that the Mayor of Paphos should give them evidence to act........."
