With candles, flowers and stuffed teddy bears outside the door of the Klotsi family's home, the residents of Andravida continue to mourn their violent loss, which was to forever scar their small community.

The quadruple murder coupled with the arrest of the perpetrator, who turned out to be their landlord, continues to be a top topic of discussion with residents following the developments and analyzing what their 60-year-old compatriot has apologized for.

In fact, more than a few people believe that the 60-year-old perpetrator has lied in his apology, as his elderly mother had never complained to anyone about the young Albanian couple who had rented the house below hers for two years: "This woman had never been heard to shout or say she had a complaint" a neighbour of the couple told protothema.gr and continued:

"Here one door we are all, we would have known something, we would have heard something. On the contrary, I would even say, I who live in the same neighborhood, I had seen the old woman many times letting the children play in a small garden in her house. She even told the late Mary to leave them in order to do her chores in peace. Now if something had happened and we didn't know about it, it seems difficult. Even for what he says that they turned off his mother's electricity and water for revenge, I think they are lies because the woman would have told us something."

According to the resident of Andravida, the reason must be different. He should drop this and say how he committed this crime and the reasons that led him to this disaster. These children were the same age as his grandchild and yet he did not hesitate to kill them. We are all shocked, we cannot believe what has happened."

Even seven days after the murder, residents of Andravida and the surrounding areas visit the family's house and leave candles and dolls for the two children, aged 1.5 and 2.5 years old. You see little kids with drawings on their hands or a few flowers coming and dropping them off outside the door of the house where the family lived. Andravida has been stigmatized forever and that's why the whole truth, whatever it may be, must be revealed because everyone here is speaking their mind. Now they have begun to say whether the 61-year-old and the 32-year-old had set up an illegal business between them.

The 61-year-old's apology

Before the investigating judge, as during the preliminary investigation, the confessed murderer admitted that he killed the 32-year-old and his 37-year-old wife, giving more details about the timing of the crime and the reasons that led him to it.

He claimed that there was an altercation between the three of them, which led to him getting on the bed, pulling out the gun he had in his possession and firing a shot.

From there, the 60-year-old says he remembers nothing else, neither about the killing of the children, nor about the bodies found placed on a trailer in the backyard of the house. As for the causes, he claimed that it was not the outstanding rent, but the victims' behavior towards his mother.

According to defense attorney Spyros Andriopoulos, the 60-year-old obtained the consent of his victims to enter the house, where he went to resolve this particular issue. He claimed that he was again verbally assaulted and physically abused by the 32-year-old victim, leading to a fight inside the house. The verbal confrontation developed into a scuffle and later into a murder.

"It was no more, the knot had reached the end," he reportedly told the investigator. He added: "I went to their house and we argued badly, we grabbed hands. During the fight we were in their bedroom. There I shot them. These people turned off the water and electricity switch, and left my elderly mother in the dark and without water. That day, she called me crying and told me that once again she had no electricity and water. I called them and tried to smooth the situation, but the 32-year-old man verbally attacked me. I then went by the house to talk to him in person. The verbal confrontation turned into a fight between the three of us. During the fight we were in the bedroom, where I threw them on the bed and shot them."

The return to Andravida before the arrest

Mr. Andriopoulos also relayed what the accused claimed before the investigating magistrate regarding his return to his home in Andravida. "He said that he decided to go back to Andravida because he felt sorry for a little dog he had and because he had nothing to eat, he was afraid that something might happen to him. So he went back to his house where the police were waiting for him."
