The European Commission has proposed to raise visa fees. The proposal includes an increase in the standard visa fee to 90€ for adults (now 80€) and 45€ for children between 6 and 12 years old (now 40€).

The increase in visa fees is justified by the need to take into account inflation and changes in the salaries of civil servants in the EU. It is proposed that the new fees will come into force 20 days after publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
