I wish to express my particular satisfaction that the initiative of the Cyprus Government to create a sea corridor to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza is being implemented with the cooperation of many states, international organizations and institutions.
At the same time, I wish to express my sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to this cause.
My special thanks go to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Konstantinos Kombos and his team consisting of the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Piero Pieris, Costas Fytiris, Neophytos Karkotis, Haris Chrysostomou, Chrysilios Chryselios and Andreas Charalambidis, who have been working methodically and diligently since October to develop a comprehensive operational plan, the Cyprus "Amalthea" initiative, which is a catalyst in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
