The Council of Ministers today approved the bills for the operation of the World Health Organization Country Office in Cyprus. These bills will be submitted to the House of Representatives and their passage will pave the way for the funding, full staffing and activation of the Office.
It is noted that thematic priorities for technical support from the Office have already been set for preparing for a possible health crisis, ensuring the sustainability of the GHS, drafting the national mental health strategy and addressing inpatient infections and antimicrobial resistance. A separate action plan is already being prepared for each priority.
We look forward to working even more closely with the WHO through this office, producing quality work that will improve the Health Services available to citizens and promoting strategies in new areas.
