In AKEL they know well how to play the role of the coach of the grandstand.
They also know well the tactics of catchy slogans, how to propagandise by re-projecting questions that have already been answered. They insist, while the measures taken are on record, to claim, more or less, that the government has not done a single thing to address a phenomenon observed globally by developments beyond its control. We refer them to our statement of yesterday.
No matter how many statements AKEL issues, neither the numbers nor the facts will change.
What can change is the attitude of AKEL, which we call on to get off the sidelines and concentrate on promoting the reforms that our country needs and which are a prerequisite for the absorption of the 1.2 billion we are entitled to from the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
Citizens are well aware of who led them into poverty through uncontrolled and unsustainable policies, just as they know who led the country to the lowest level of unemployment since 2008 and to growth rates deafeningly inverse to those they themselves delivered.
Within the capabilities of the state, with solutions that target those most in need, with realism and rationality, without jeopardising the future of future generations, the government will continue on the path of progress and perspective.
The effectiveness of AKEL's policies, and that of the government, is measurable. (relevant tables). We leave the conclusions to the citizens.
