[PIO] Written statement by the Government Spokesman Mr Konstantinos Letibiotis

Regarding the issue that has arisen with the illegal entry of 27 irregular migrants into the Dead Zone, the Government wishes to clarify the following:

The 27 irregular migrants remain within the Dead Zone and are assisted by the Peacekeeping Force. The Republic of Cyprus is working with UNFICYP to address their humanitarian needs. It is recalled that similar incidents have occurred in the past.

The Republic of Cyprus will continue effective surveillance along the Dead Zone, also in accordance with the Green Line Regulation.
