The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, will leave for Switzerland tomorrow afternoon to participate in the International Summit for Peace in Ukraine, which will take place on 15 and 16 June in Burgenstock.

During the Summit, the President of the Republic will make an intervention on Food Security, while at the close of the Summit he will make a general statement.

A large number of Heads of State and Government, other government representatives, as well as heads of regional and international organisations, including the United Nations and the European Union (EU), are expected to participate in the Summit.

The aim of the Summit is to lay the foundations for the launch of a peace process in Ukraine, focusing on nuclear safety, food security and the human dimension of the war.

On the evening of 16 June, the President of the Republic will leave for Brussels, where the following day he will participate in the European People's Party Summit, followed by the informal dinner of the European Council.

During the working dinner, the Heads of State and Government of the EU Member States will take stock of the results of the recent European Parliament elections.

In this context, the Leaders will also exchange views on the new Heads of the EU Institutions, on whom final decisions are expected to be taken at the regular European Council meeting on 27 and 28 June.

The President of the Republic will be accompanied by the Director of the President's Press Office Mr. Victor Papadopoulos, the Director of the President's Diplomatic Office Mr. Doros Venezis, while the Deputy Minister for European Affairs Ms. Marilena Raouna will also visit Brussels.

The President of the Republic will return to Cyprus on the morning of 18 June.
