[PIO] Written statement by the Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic Mr.

The President of the Hellenic Republic Mr.Nicos Christodoulides met today, at the Presidential Palace, with the European Commissioner for Internal Market Mr.Thierry Breton.

During the discussion, both sides highlighted the need for strategic autonomy of the EU in areas such as defence, security and energy. In this context, specific projects that can be undertaken in Cyprus were discussed.

They also exchanged views on issues for the upcoming European Council, including the package for the new Heads of the EU Institutions.
