Cyprus is strengthening its bilateral relations in order to promote its positions, create alliances and develop partnerships with other states.

Next week another Head of State will visit Cyprus, while of particular importance is the Informal European Council to be held in Versailles, France, during which the latest dramatic developments in Ukraine, among others, are expected to be discussed.

On 8 March, Slovenian President Borut Pahor will pay an official visit to Cyprus, during which bilateral relations between Cyprus and Slovenia, ways to further deepen cooperation between the two countries will be discussed, and views on the role that small EU Member States can play in the future of Europe will be exchanged.

President Anastasiades will also report on Turkey's provocative actions in the region, our side's efforts to resume the negotiation process, the Confidence Building Measures it has proposed and more generally on the Republic of Cyprus' efforts to defend international legitimacy and our country's initiatives in this direction.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers is scheduled for 9 March.

Subsequently, on 10 and 11 March, President Anastasiades will be in Versailles, France, for the Informal European Council on Investment and Development. The events in Ukraine are bringing major changes in Europe at the economic, political and social levels which will be of great concern to the Summit. The 27 leaders will also exchange views on the Union's strategic autonomy in the fields of energy and defence.

On 12 March, President Anastasiades, in his capacity as a full member of DISY, will attend and address the meeting of the party's Supreme Council.
