Honorary distinctions for his significant contribution to his country and many thanks for the work he has done during his ten-year rule will be awarded this week to the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, a few days before he steps down from the highest office of the Republic.

On Monday, February 20, at 12:30 p.m., the Executive Committee of the KEBE will host a luncheon for President Anastasiades during which they will honor and thank him for the productive cooperation they have had during his ten-year administration.

On Tuesday, February 21, at 12:30 pm, President Anastasiades will be honored for his great contribution to the country by the Federation of Employers and Industrialists during a luncheon.

In his speech, President Anastasiades is expected to refer to the crucial contribution of employers' organisations and other social partners in the economic rescue of the country in 2013, in managing the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, and in dealing with the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Earlier the same day, at 12:00 noon, the President of the Republic will receive the credentials of the new Ambassador of the United States, Ms. Julie Fisher.

The bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and the United States, under the Anastasiades administration, has acquired a special and constantly strengthening dynamic, and today it is at its highest point ever.

Relations between the two countries are characterized by strategic ties, both bilaterally and multilaterally, with the two countries working closely together to address the serious challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean and to promote peace, security and stability in the region.

The Council of Ministers will meet on Wednesday, February 22, at 9:30 in the morning. Subsequently, at 12:00 noon, the President of the Republic will meet with the organization of the Relatives of Captured Prisoners of War, which will also honour him. During his presidency, President Anastasiades has shown a keen and continued interest in the humanitarian issue of the missing persons.

On Thursday, 23 February, at 11:30 in the morning, President Anastasiades will meet with the World Consular Corps (FICAC), which will honour him with the Gold Star.

This will be followed at 12:30 pm by a lunch in honour of the Ambassadors based in Cyprus. The lunch is hosted by the President of the Republic on the occasion of the completion of his term of office.

During the lunch, President Anastasiades will thank the Ambassadors both for the cooperation between them over these ten years and for their contribution to the further strengthening of relations between our countries.
