Next Tuesday, 8 March, the first shipment of humanitarian aid from Cyprus to the Ukrainian people is expected, following arrangements made in consultation with the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
The first humanitarian aid package includes.Food, for the collection of which more than 40 centres have been activated throughout the country.
3.Civil protection equipment (tents, sleeping bags, first aid kits, etc.).
It should be noted that the Government has already contributed, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the sum of €100,000 to the United Nations Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (Ukraine Humanitarian Fund - United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs).
The Government wishes to thank the citizens, organizations, agencies, private companies, municipalities, communities, the Cyprus Port Authority and all those who contributed to the effort to collect humanitarian aid, which once again demonstrates the sensitivity of our people, who stand by the Ukrainian people.
The needs assessment on the ground continues in cooperation with the Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
It is clarified that the collection of humanitarian aid at the centres operating throughout Cyprus continues.
