We are saddened to learn of the death of journalist Pambos Vassilas, the Larnaca correspondent of the newspaper "Phileleftheros". Pambos Vassilas worked hard, with professional conscientiousness, contributing with his writings to the public debate. He pursued the truth, putting above all the man and the problems of his everyday life. He was a fighter journalist. He won the sympathy and appreciation of all because he was genuine and authentic. Through his reports he brought to light human stories, such as the case of the youngest hero of the liberation struggle of EOKA 1955-59 Dimitrakis Dimitriadis who was murdered in Larnaca on 18 March 1956 by a British soldier. Recently, on his own initiative and his own actions towards the Government, an effort was undertaken and finally the remains of the youngest hero of EOKA were found.

We express our sincere condolences to the family, his relatives and the family of Phileleftheros.
