In a new crescendo of populism, AKEL explains to us that large private interests are responsible for the price increases and insists on blaming the government for a phenomenon that does not only concern Cyprus, but has global dimensions. And this while our country shows better results even than much more economically powerful countries.
A shield of protection for the people, those whom AKEL led to poverty and misery when it was in power, is provided by the Government's rational policies that led to a sharp reduction in unemployment, that strengthened the safety net for the vulnerable with the implementation of the EEE, that brought us one step closer to the introduction of a national minimum wage, that led to the strengthening of incomes of low pensioners, that led us in 2021 to one of the strongest growth rates in the EU in the midst of a pandemic.
While AKEL will continue to throw mud at the fan, the Government will proceed rationally, protecting what citizens have achieved through sacrifice.
