The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Ports Authority, Dr. Stylianou attended on Wednesday, 2 February 2022 an event organised by the Cyprus Foundation for Environmental Protection and the Akrotiri Environmental Centre at the upgraded bird sanctuary of Lake Makria on the occasion of World Wetlands Day. The Cyprus Ports Authority has already contributed to the wetland protection procedures of Lake Makria by providing boulders to protect the accesses. Dr Stylianou said: "The protection of our local wetlands is an essential concern for all of us and the Cyprus Port Authority, as the immediate first neighbour of the Lake Makria wetland, takes a special interest in the continuous efforts to protect it, both by the relevant government departments and the unprecedented actions of environmental organisations, a project which is welcomed and of major importance. The Cyprus Ports Authority has taken the initiative to convene a meeting with stakeholders in order to contribute in any way it can to the above processes.
