The Mines and Quarries Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, after reviewing the whole issue and taking into account the views of all relevant departments, announces that the ban on the granting of licenses for the use of fireworks is lifted.

It is stressed that the provisions of the Explosives Legislation and the relevant European Directive relating to safety issues will be strictly applied in the examination of each application. In addition, the conditions and specific circumstances of each case will be taken into account (hours of discharge, place of discharge, temperatures, possible concern for civilians and animals) and appropriate precautions will be taken to prevent any unpleasant situation, such as fire, injury, etc.

Specifically for permitted events held inland, they will be licensed only with the approval of the Fire Department. If the site of the fireworks display is two miles or less from a state or private forest, additional approval from the Forestry Department will be required.

The types of pyrotechnics which are permitted by the general public, those which are permitted only with permission and only by persons with specialized knowledge, and the permitted events which may be licensed are shown in the notification of the Inspector of Explosives (K.D.P. 109-2020). The notification is posted on the website of the Mines and Quarries Department.
