The Consumer Protection Agency of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry as the competent authority for the implementation of the General Product Safety Laws and the Laws on Basic Requirements to be Met by Certain Categories of Products, during the months of September and October, proceeded to withdraw from the Cypriot market the products shown here, which were found to pose serious risks to the health and safety of consumers or did not comply with the relevant provisions of the legislation.
Recommendations - Warnings
The Consumer Protection Service invites consumers, in case they possess the above products, to stop using them and return them to the seller, i.e. the shop from which they have purchased them, while informing it accordingly.
It is noted that, according to the Law on Certain Aspects Concerning Contracts for the Sale of Goods of 2021, in case of purchase of an unsafe product, the consumer is entitled to a replacement of the product so that the product complies with the terms of the sales contract. If this is not possible, then the consumer is entitled to withdraw, i.e. to return the product to the seller and receive a refund of the full amount paid.
It is recalled that the above rights apply for a period of two years from the initial delivery of the product to the consumer and that the final seller is always solely liable to the consumer.
In the event that the seller refuses to comply with the above rights of the consumer, the consumer is invited to submit a written complaint via the website of the Consumer Protection Service.
Finally, it reminds that consumers can be informed about dangerous products identified in the European Union via the website of the Consumer Protection Service at www.consumer.gov.cy or via the Safety Gate website at https:/ec.europa.eu/safety-gate/#/screen/home.
