[PIO] Visit of the Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Trapped Persons Ms Anna Aristotelous to the Schools of Kormakitis as a channel of

With the strategic objective of developing a series of actions focusing on the human being himself regarding his special living conditions, education and training, the Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Trapped Persons Ms. Anna Aristotelous paid a visit to the schools in the occupied Kormakitis.

During the visit, she had a meeting with the Maronite Representative in the House of Representatives Mr. Yiannakis Moussa, the new Mayor of Kormakitis Mr. Antonis Solomis, a delegation of the KEBE, as well as the teacher of the Primary School Mr. During the visit to the schools, Mrs. Aristotelous talked with the children, who participated in the first children's camp in Kormakitis entitled: "I walk to my roots", where about 35 children, who are staying at the premises of the Cooperation Centre, are given the opportunity to get to know our occupied villages, walk to their roots and visit various occupied villages, such as Karpasia and Kabyli.

Ms Aristotelous conveyed the support of the Government and the President of the Republic himself, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, saying: "We are investing in education. Our aim is to provide equal opportunities and access for all interned and resettled children to education, recreation, socialization, environment, culture and to have the same quality of education that is provided to students attending schools in the free areas."

As Ms. Aristotelous said, "the decision to reopen the Kormakitis Kindergarten and Primary School after 20 years is a milestone in supporting our vulnerable groups of internally displaced and resettled people, especially the children they chose, despite the difficulties and restrictions due to the conditions of occupation, to remain in our occupied villages, Kormakitis and Karpasia, keeping them alive, since for so many years parents were obliged to transport their children daily to schools in the free areas".

Ms. Aristotelous praised the work of teachers, since their role in occupied Kormakitis is of paramount importance, stressing that "teachers are called upon not only to educate and educate children, but also to support them under difficult circumstances, and together with the children and their parents they teach lessons of patience, perseverance, self-denial, love and commitment to the roots and traditions of our country, while also promoting values such as cooperation, respect and social responsibility".

In addition, Mrs. Aristotelous spoke with stranded and resettled people, visited them in their homes in Kormakitis, as part of the communication channel that has been developed, in order to be informed by them about the daily problems they face in order to solve them, in the context of the human-centered approach focusing on people and their daily needs.
