Tourist Arrivals
Tourist arrivals in April 2024 amounted to 333,563 compared to 342.736 in April 2023, a decrease of 2.7%.
For the period January - April 2024, tourist arrivals amounted to 748,814 compared to 736,629 in the corresponding period of 2023, an increase of 1.7%.

Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for April 2024, accounting for 35.3% (117,902) of total arrivals, arrivals from Israel 10.7% (35,673), arrivals from Poland 7.6% (25.Arrivals from Germany 6.7% (22,510) and arrivals from Greece 3.9% (13,056).
The purpose of travel in April 2024 was for 82.1% of tourists a holiday, for 9.4% a visit to friends or relatives and for 8.3% business. Similarly, for April 2023, 79.3% visited Cyprus for holidays, 14.5% for visiting friends or relatives and 6.0% for business purposes (Table).

Cyprus Resident Returns
Cyprus resident trips abroad in April 2024 amounted to 132.806 compared to 135,659 in April 2023, a decrease of 2.1%.
The main countries from which Cyprus residents returned in April 2024 were Greece with 35.7% (47,441), the United Kingdom with 9.6% (12,749) and Italy with 6.0% (7.
The purpose of travel of Cyprus residents in April 2024 was mainly holidays (61.1%), while business reasons accounted for 22.1%, studies for 15.4% and other reasons for 1.4%.
Methodological Information
Definitions
Tourists - Visitors who stay at least one night in Cyprus.
Tourist arrivals - The term refers to the number of visits and not to the number of persons. This differs in the sense that a person may make more than one visit in the given reference period.
Returning Cyprus residents - This category includes persons who have resided in Cyprus for at least 12 months or who came to Cyprus with the intention of staying for at least 12 months prior to their trip.
Source of Data and Coverage
The data are derived from the Traveler Survey, which is conducted at arrivals and departures at Larnaca and Paphos airports. In addition, data are also collected from administrative sources, such as monthly arrivals from the ports.
The data cover all persons passing through passport control at the ports and airports of Cyprus and refer to the State-controlled areas. They do not include travellers arriving and departing illegally through ports and airports in the occupied area of Cyprus.
The extrapolation of the data was based on data sent to the Statistical Service by the Civil Aviation Department and from the passenger lists of ships, as well as data sent by the Analysis and Statistics Bureau of the Cyprus Police.
