The Speaker of the House of Representatives Mrs. Anita Demetriou received today the President of the Cyprus Broadcasting Authority Mrs. Rona Kasapi and her Vice President Mrs. Maria Koussiou.
During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on issues that fall within the competence of the Authority and ways of assisting the House of Representatives in the modernisation and improvement of the current legislative framework concerning issues related to the operation of the Authority, with the ultimate aim of making it more effective and compatible with modern times.
In this regard, the President of the House of Representatives undertook to implement actions jointly with the Authority and to prioritise the promotion and resolution of issues relating to the audiovisual media sector, taking into account, inter alia, the need to combat misinformation and the spread of false news on the Internet and social media.
