The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs.Anita Demetriou, today received the Ambassador of France to Cyprus, Mrs.Salina Grenet-Catalano, on the occasion of the completion of her term of office here.
Ms Demetriou expressed her gratitude for France's principled stance on the resolution of the Cyprus problem both within the framework of the European Union and the United Nations Security Council. Referring to the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion and occupation, Demetriou and Grenet-Catalano expressed disappointment that the term of the French Ambassador is not ending with clear progress in the resolution of the Cyprus problem and jointly expressed the hope for a positive outcome of the mission of the Personal Envoy of the Representative of the UN Secretary General, Mr. María Angela Holguín, with the resumption of dialogue leading to the reunification of Cyprus on the basis of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The President of the House praised Mrs Grenet-Catalano's contribution to further strengthening the already very close relations between Cyprus and France in a wide range of areas. She noted that France is a valuable ally for Cyprus in promoting issues of common European and international interest and made special reference to the recent accession of the House of Representatives to the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie.
Thanking the Ambassador for the excellent cooperation between the House of Representatives and the Embassy of France during her term of office, Mrs. Gren Gren-Catalatalatalat said that she would like to thank the Ambassador for the excellent cooperation between the House of Representatives and the Embassy of France during her term of office.
Finally, Mrs. Gren-Catalat-Catalat thanked the Ambassador for the excellent cooperation between the House of Representatives and the Embassy of France during her term of office. Demetriou expressed satisfaction at the excellent level of relations between the parliaments of the two countries and noted her intention to work to further strengthen interparliamentary exchanges both at the level of Speakers of Parliaments and at the level of Parliamentary Committees and Friendship Groups.
