[PIO] The Speaker of the House of Representatives received representatives of the Department of the Cyprus Employees' Confederation

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs Anita Demetriou, held a meeting today, Thursday 10 March 2022, with representatives of the Women's Department of the Cyprus Employees' Confederation (CEC), in the context of which the implementation of the Code of Prevention and Response to Harassment was discussed, bullying and sexual harassment against women in the workplace, as well as the control procedures followed at the stage of investigation of relevant complaints under the provisions of the Equal Treatment of Men and Women in Employment and Vocational Training Law.

The Speaker said that issues related to combating harassment, workplace bullying, sexual harassment, as well as violence against women, are a top priority for the legislature and noted the need for more effective implementation of the Law on Equal Treatment of Men and Women in Employment and Vocational Education, while assuring the representatives present that, within the framework of its own competences, it will take every possible initiative to exercise the necessary parliamentary control over the effective implementation of the relevant legislative framework, as well as to support the more general work carried out by the FEC in this area.
