The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Anita Demetriou, held a meeting today, Monday, May 23, 2022, with a delegation of the Cyprus Youth Centres Organisation at the House of Representatives.
During the meeting, issues related to the operation of the Youth Centres in Cyprus, the practical problems they face, as well as the need to maintain and upgrade them by simplifying the relevant procedures in order to encourage the participation of young people in them were discussed. The Agency's request regarding the adoption of legislation governing the existence and operation of these centres was also discussed.
The President of the Parliament, recognising the role played by youth centres, expressed her willingness to assist, within the framework of her powers, in solving the problems facing the Agency, while assuring that the Parliament would study in detail the possibilities of adopting the appropriate legislative framework, always taking into account the relevant legislation.
