The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Demetriou expressed confidence that the excellent cooperation developed between the House of Representatives and the High Commission of India will continue and will be further strengthened. During the meeting, the excellent level of Cyprus-India relations was underlined and a common will was expressed to further deepen and broaden cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic and trade sector, shipping, technology and education. Particular reference was made to the importance of further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, through exchanges and cooperation, both at bilateral and multilateral level, and the use of parliamentary diplomacy to address common challenges.

The Speaker expressed appreciation for India's longstanding principled stand on the Cyprus problem and efforts to resolve it in accordance with international law and relevant UN Resolutions.

The High Commissioner of India reaffirmed his country's solidarity and support for efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem on the basis of the principles of international law and legitimacy.

The President congratulated India on its rapid growth and achievements in a number of sectors, particularly in the fields of research, science and technology, stressing that the green and digital transition are high priorities for Cyprus to build a more promising and sustainable future. Mr. Manish briefed Ms. Demetriou on the progress made by his country in these areas, with particular reference to India's digital ecosystem, as well as on the results of the recent general elections in India.

Finally, views were exchanged on possible ways for the House of Representatives to contribute to the promotion of common goals, with the Speaker of the House stressing the House's readiness for any possible cooperation.
