[PIO] The President of the Republic will pay a two-day official visit to Poland

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Christodoulides, will leave tomorrow evening for Poland, where he will pay an official visit, during which he will meet with the country's political leadership.

The President of the Republic, who will be accompanied by his wife Mrs. Philippa Karchera Christodoulides, will be officially received at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw on 23 May, followed by a private meeting with the President of Poland Mr. Andrzej Duda, which will be followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding between Cyprus and Poland in the field of sport will then be signed, followed by statements by the two Presidents to the media.

Later, President Christodoulides will visit the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, where he will lay a wreath.

He will then attend a working lunch with the Prime Minister of Poland, Mr Donald Tusk, and in the afternoon he will have a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr Szymon Hołownia.

In the evening, President Christodoulides, his wife and members of the Cypriot delegation will attend an official dinner hosted by President Duda. Later, the President and his entourage will go to the historical centre of the city and visit the Wawel Castle, while at noon he will attend a working lunch with the Governor of Lesser Poland.

The Cypriot delegation will be composed of the Deputy Minister of State for European Affairs, Ms Marilena Raouna, the Deputy Government Spokesman, Mr John Antoniou, and officials.

The President of the Republic will return to Cyprus on the evening of 24 May.
