[PIO] The President of the Republic will meet with the Emir of Qatar

On Tuesday, May 28, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Christodoulides will have a meeting with the Emir of Qatar on the occasion of his official visit to Cyprus.

The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will arrive in Cyprus on Monday, May 27, where he will be received by the President of the Republic. This will be followed by an informal private meeting at Larnaca airport.

The following morning, the Emir of Qatar will go to the Presidential Palace where the official welcoming ceremony will take place.

A private meeting of the two leaders will follow, after which the two leaders will attend extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.

Subsequently, the President of the Republic will host a lunch in honour of the Emir of Qatar.

Among other issues, the talks between the two leaders will focus on bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen them, regional developments, including the Amalthea initiative, the Cyprus problem, as well as issues related to European Union (EU)-Qatar relations.

Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will depart from Cyprus on 28 May.
