[PIO] The President of the Republic received the Report of the National Bioethics Committee of Cyprus

The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides received today, at the Presidential Palace, the Report of the National Bioethics Committee of Cyprus for the period 18 July 2019 to 31 December 2022.

Delivering the Report, the President of the National Bioethics Committee of Cyprus Mr: "In modern times, where the development of technology and science is so rapid, the Commission is called upon to perform a very important role in the scientific and research events of Cyprus through the protection of the dignity, integrity and rights of participants in scientific, research projects.

At the same time, the Committee continues its successful course through the publication of important scientific reports, the organization of conferences, seminars on issues arising from the rapid development of science and technology and on issues related to the psychosocial texture of modern society.

Thank you for the support of the Government to the institution of Bioethics. The Report we are delivering today shows all that we have achieved and all that we plan to achieve in the coming period, with a focus on the human being, as you are wont to say. Whenever we remember this, all our actions and activities will have positive results."

The President of the Republic, receiving the Report, referred to the important role of the Commission, adding: "Through today's meeting, in addition to the delivery of the very important Report, we will see how, as the Executive, we can strengthen your role, taking into account international data and developments as well as the ever-changing environment, but also how your work is further strengthened, always for the benefit of the citizen. This is what always determines the decisions we take."
