[PIO] The President of the Republic received Mr Miroslav Jenča

The President of the Republic Mr.Nikos Christodoulides received today, at the Presidential Palace, the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and Africa, Mr.Miroslav Jenča.

After the meeting, which lasted an hour and a half, the UN official told reporters that the most important thing they discussed during the meeting "is that the UN Secretary-General is paying the utmost attention to the situation on the island and with His Excellency Mr. Christodoulides we discussed ways to resume the talks. This is a very important thing, to look at the big picture, and certainly the Secretary-General will use all his good offices to help this process of finding a solution to the Cyprus problem."

He added that he and President Christodoulides had a very good meeting during which they discussed many issues.
