[PIO] The President of the Republic received a delegation of Chevron

The President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides received today, in New York, President Clay Neff and other executives of Chevron International.

During the meeting, the strategic importance attached by both the Government and the company to the development of the Aphrodite field was reaffirmed.

The company stated that the development of the field is a priority and is part of its energy plans in the Eastern Mediterranean.

During the discussion, there was an exchange of views on the planning for the exploitation of energy resources in the Cypriot EEZ, as well as a brief reference to the ongoing negotiations between the Republic of Cyprus and the company.

Finally, President Christodoulides expressed the Government's intention and readiness for constructive cooperation to achieve our common goals.
