The President of the Republic Mr.Nikos Christodoulides received a congratulatory message from the Prime Minister of Greece Mr.Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus.
In his message, the Greek Prime Minister said, among other things, the following.
The end of the Turkish occupation and the reunification of Cyprus is a challenge we face together and is a duty and a promise to our Cypriot and Greek brothers who gave their lives for the freedom and integrity of the Megalossos, to the missing persons of the Cypriot tragedy and to their families.
Respect for the independence of the Republic of Cyprus, constant cooperation and coordination with the Government of Cyprus are the cornerstone of my country's policy on the Cyprus problem, which remains our top national priority.
Our unwavering common goal remains an agreed and comprehensive, just and viable solution on the basis of the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and of course the withdrawal of all illegal occupation troops and the abolition of the anachronistic system of guarantees. Turkish and Turkish Cypriot intransigence and Turkish attempts to impose new fait accompli against Cyprus will not weaken our resolve."
