The first official visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus to Poland will take place today with the President of the Republic Mr.Nicos Christodoulides, who will have contacts with the highest political leadership of the country.
The President of the Republic, who arrived in Warsaw last night at the invitation of his Polish counterpart, is accompanied by his wife Mrs. Philippa Karchera Christodoulides and members of the Cypriot delegation, which includes the Deputy Minister of State for European Affairs Mrs. Marilena Raouna, the Deputy Government Spokesman Mr.
At noon, the President of the Republic will be officially received at the Presidential Palace and will then have a one-to-one meeting with the President of Poland, Mr Andrzej Duda, followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.
Among the issues to be discussed are bilateral relations and ways of strengthening them, particularly in the areas of trade, tourism and investment, developments in the Cyprus problem, issues on the agenda of the European Union, as well as regional developments, including the Republic of Cyprus' Amalthea initiative.
During the meeting, two Memoranda of Understanding between Cyprus and Poland will be signed in the fields of Sport and Intellectual Property Protection, followed by statements by the two Presidents to the media.
Later, President Christodoulides will visit the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, where he will lay a wreath. Donald Tusk, while in the afternoon he will have a meeting with the President of the Polish Parliament, Mr Szymon Hołownia.
Tonight President Christodoulides, his wife and members of the Cypriot delegation will attend a formal dinner hosted by President Duda.
