President of the Hellenic Republic Nicos Christodoulides arrived early this afternoon at the venue of the MED9 Summit in Valletta, Malta, where together with the leaders of the nine Mediterranean countries they are discussing a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
On his arrival at Castille Square, Valletta, President Christodoulides was welcomed by the Prime Minister of Malta, Mr Robert Abela.
He then joined the Heads of State or Government of Malta, France, Greece, Greece, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and the Secretary of State for European Affairs of Spain, representing the Spanish Prime Minister, for talks.
The President of the European Council, Mr Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ms Ursula von der Leyen, are also participating in the proceedings.
Among the topics discussed are EU Enlargement, the Southern Neighbourhood Policy and issues on the agenda of the next European Councils in October.
After the consultations, the MED9 Heads of State or Government will make joint statements to the media, before moving to Medina, where they will attend a working dinner.
