The President of the Republic Mr Nicos Christodoulides, who is attending the European Political Community meeting in Granada, Spain, participated today in a thematic discussion on multilateralism, including security and geostrategic issues.
The panel was co-chaired by Greece and Switzerland and included Finland, Luxembourg, Ireland and EU High Representative Josep Borrell, among others.
During his intervention, President Christodoulides reiterated the importance of unwavering adherence to the values of the UN Charter and the importance of collectively condemning their violation wherever it is attempted, referring to the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine, but also to the recent events in Nagorno Karabakh.
"Our consistency as the European Union and as the European Political Community in these principles is of the utmost importance", the President of the Republic stressed.
As regards the further strengthening of multilateralism, the President of the Republic stressed the importance of deepening cooperation, mutual respect and mutual understanding between Member States. Special reference was made to the successful mechanisms of trilateral cooperation in which our country participates and which promote the pursuit of common goals and address common challenges.
