The President of the Republic Mr Nikos Christodoulides met this afternoon in Belgrade with the President of the National Assembly of Serbia Mr Vladimir Oric at the National Assembly building.
During the meeting, which took place in the framework of the President's official visit to Serbia, the bilateral relations were discussed and the mutual will to further strengthen them, the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, as well as the strong friendship between the Parliaments of Cyprus and Serbia were underlined, with the President of the Republic stressing the great importance of parliamentary diplomacy.
The President of the National Assembly of Serbia expressed his country's strong position on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus, its territory and maritime areas.
For his part, President Christodoulides reiterated the firm position of the Republic of Cyprus on respect for the territorial integrity of Serbia.
After the meeting, President Christodoulides and the members of the Cypriot delegation were shown around the premises of the National Assembly.
