The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Nicos Christodoulides, will be in Dubai this afternoon, where he will participate in the work of the Summit on Global Action on Climate Change, in the framework of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28).
During the Summit, which will focus on the implementation of existing initiatives and commitments in order to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement (COP21), the President of the Republic will address the participants on the serious consequences of climate change in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean.
He will also report on the progress in the implementation of the Action Plan to address the impacts of Climate Change, in the context of the implementation of the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus presented at last year's Climate Summit.
He will also attend events on the sidelines of COP28 and have bilateral meetings with country leaders.
The President of the Republic, who will return to Cyprus late in the evening of 2 December, will be accompanied in Dubai by the Government Spokesman Mr. Constantinos Letibiotis, the Ambassador of the Republic to the United Arab Emirates Ms. Meropi Christofi, the Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President of the Republic Mr. Doros Venezis and officials.
