The President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades chaired today, at the Presidential Palace, a meeting on the course of AHK in the new competitive environment, with the participation of the Ministers of Energy Ms. Natasha Pilidou and Finance Mr. Konstantinos Petridis, as well as officials.
In her statements after the meeting, Ms. Pileidou said that the meeting was aimed at "discussing the opening of the competitive market and providing all the tools to AHK so that it can modernize and not only survive in the competitive market, but be able to provide better services to consumers at the cheapest possible prices.
We are in the final stage of completing the market operation system. The opening of the market is being rolled out for the autumn of 2022, so we are entering the final stretch and as far as the operation of the software system is concerned, we will start testing with all the providers in the next period, that is in the spring of 2022, in order to have a normal opening in the autumn.
There are a lot of issues that are still pending that have to do with the empowerment, especially of the sectors of AHK that will have to provide services to all the providers. And it is these issues that were discussed today, as well as other issues that concern AHK for which the state will provide all the necessary support, in the context of the new framework of the competitive market which is a priority for the state.
The President of the Republic clarified that the main concern of the state is the consumer, is to reduce, to the maximum extent possible, the cost of electricity and therefore we will give the necessary tools to AHK, so that it can proceed with its modernization plans.
