[PIO] The President of the Republic chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers

The President of the Republic Mr.Nicos Christodoulides chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers at the Presidential Palace today.

After the meeting, Government Spokesman Mr. Constantinos Letibiotis told reporters: "The Council of Ministers today decided to appoint the new Council of the Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Qualifications, which will be composed of the following persons:

Konstantinos Christou as President, Georgios Hadjigeorgiou as Vice President, Aghios Papadopoulos as member, Spyros Papastathis as member, Theodosios Zacharias, Konstantinos Georgiou as representative of the Ministry of Education, Lambrini Lambrou as member of KYSATS, representative of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic.

The need for the appointment of this Council arises due to the expiry of the term of office of the existing Council. The appointment of members is for three years.

Furthermore, the Council of Ministers has decided to appoint the following persons to the positions of Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of DEFA, as follows: George Asiikalis, Electrical Engineer, as Chairman and Konstantinos Danos, Chemical Engineer, as member.

It also appoints Andreas Apppios as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation, replacing a member who resigned.

It is recalled that on August 5, the Council of Ministers decided to select the above-mentioned persons, who, as is known, emerged through the open procedure of the Advisory Council, to the above-mentioned positions, after finding that, based on their CVs, copies of which were submitted to the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, notified to the House of Representatives and will be made public, they meet the terms and conditions set out in the above-mentioned laws. For the above proposed appointments, the Cabinet of Ministers has already informed the House of Representatives by letter from the Cabinet Secretariat dated 13 August 2024."
