[PIO] The President of the Republic arrived in Doha for an official visit

The President of the Republic Mr.Nikos Christodoulides arrived last night in Doha, Qatar, where he is on an official visit.

The President of the Republic was received at Doha airport by the Qatari Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

This morning the President of the Republic will have a meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani followed by a meeting at 10 a.m. Cyprus time, the President of the Republic will proceed to the Palace where he will be officially received and attend a one-to-one meeting with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, followed by expanded talks between the delegations of the two countries.

This will be followed by a lunch hosted by the Emir of Qatar in his honour, while in the afternoon he will tour the "Expo 2023 Green Desert, Better Environment" exhibition grounds.

In the framework of the President's official visit to Qatar, a Memorandum of Understanding for bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research will be signed in the morning at the Qatari Ministry of Education. On behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, the Memorandum will be signed by the Deputy Minister to the President, Mrs. Irene Piki.

In addition to the Deputy Minister to the President, the Director of his Diplomatic Office, Mrs. Marilena Rauna, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, Mr. Irene Piki, will accompany the President of the Republic during his contacts in Doha. Yiannis Antoniou and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Qatar Mr. Nicolas Manolis.
