The President of the Hellenic Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, arrived in Cairo, where he will participate in the meeting between European leaders and the President of Egypt.
The meeting is part of the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership between the European Union (EU) and Egypt, during which a Joint Declaration will be signed between the EU and Egypt.
Around noon, the President of the Republic will participate in a coordination meeting with the other participating European leaders, the Prime Ministers of Greece, Italy, Belgium, the Chancellor of Austria and the President of the European Commission.
The European leaders will then proceed to the Presidential Palace, where they will have separate bilateral meetings with the President of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The President's bilateral meeting with his Egyptian counterpart is expected to take place around 14:00.
At 15:00, a meeting between the President of Egypt and all participating European leaders will take place, followed at 16:30 by the expanded talks with the participation of the delegations of the countries participating in the meeting.
Subsequently, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and President El-Sisi will sign the Joint Declaration in the presence of all leaders.
Around 18:00, the seven leaders are expected to make statements to the media.
The President of Egypt will then host a dinner in honour of the European leaders. He will return to Cyprus tonight.
