An event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union (EU) will take place on Wednesday, 1 May 2024, at 6 p.m,
During the event, Mrs. von der Leyen will address the President of the Republic and the President of the Republic.
The event will also be attended by the Cypriot Commissioner for Health and Food Safety of the European Union, Mrs. Stella Kyriakidou, while the heads of political parties, Ambassadors of EU member states and other officials have been invited.

Pupils will present their activities under the European Parliament Ambassador School programme. Students from the Nicosia Music School will also perform songs under the artistic direction of Mariza Anastasiades.
As part of the event, the President of the Republic and the President of the Commission will symbolically plant an olive tree in the gardens of the Presidential Palace, while photographs of the Press and Information Office from the period before and after Cyprus' accession to the EU will be on display.
