[PIO] The President of the House of Representatives received the Secretary General of the Hellenic Parliament

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. George Mylonakis, who is on a working visit to Cyprus, at the head of a seven-member team of high-ranking officials of the House of Representatives, following an invitation by the Director General of the House of Representatives, Ms. Tasoula Ieronymidou.

During the meeting, the excellent relations between the Greek and Cypriot legislatures and the prospect of further deepening them on an administrative level were underlined on the basis of a memorandum of cooperation signed earlier by Mr. Mylonakis and Mrs. This was followed by a discussion on future collaborations between the House of Representatives and the Hellenic Parliament, and an exchange of views on the contemporary challenges facing the two chambers and the parliamentary institution in general. The meeting focused on the procedures and practices followed by the two chambers both in the production of legislative work and in the exercise of parliamentary diplomacy. Finally, there was a discussion on the need to strengthen participatory democracy and active citizenship.
