The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides received today, at the Presidential Palace, the new President of SYRIZA Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis.
Welcoming Mr. Kasselakis, President Christodoulides congratulated him on his election as President of SYRIZA and as leader of the opposition, adding: "I look forward to continuing the cooperation that has always existed with the leader of the opposition in Greece and with all party leaders in general.
We have common goals, common aspirations, common challenges, and cooperation should be taken for granted.
I welcome the fact that you chose your first visit outside Greece to be in Cyprus, it is of symbolic and essential importance.
I also welcome your colleagues, they are well known in their previous capacities and the cooperation we had and I look forward to our discussion."
For his part, Mr. Kasselakis, after thanking the President of the Republic, said: "I too look forward to our discussion and our cooperation. I should also thank you because you were the first phone call I received after my election."
