The President of the Cyprus Ports Authority Dr Antonis St. Stylianou paid an official visit to Malaga, Spain as a member of a delegation of the Limassol Municipality, led by the Mayor of Limassol Mr. Nikos Nicolaides. The visit was under the auspices of the Ambassador of Cyprus to Spain Mrs. Eleni Minas.

During the visit, which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Municipality of Limassol and the Municipality of Malaga, the President of the Cyprus Ports Authority and the Cypriot delegation met with the President of the Malaga Ports Authority and discussed at length the prospects of creating synergies between the two Authorities, with emphasis on issues related to the green transition, digitalisation, the use of Renewable Energy Sources in port facilities, the circular economy and blue growth.

During the discussions, at an extended level, it became clear that there are several common elements between the Port of Malaga and the new Port of Limassol, as well as good practices on both sides that can be implemented in the context of a broader cooperation between the two Authorities and the wider environment in which the ports are located.

The discussions focused on issues such as the connection between the ports and the city, not only in terms of accessibility but primarily in terms of the integration of the city-port culture and especially issues related to their sustainable development.

It was also agreed to further deepen, at a technical level, both for the purposes of feedback and evaluation of the results of the meetings and for the implementation of the discussions, at an administrative level, which took place during the official visit of the Cypriot delegation.
