The Cyprus Ports Authority, as part of its social contribution, supported the "Light it up Blue" campaign on the occasion of the events organised by the Pancyprian Association for People with Autism on 2 April 2022.

In honour of the International Autism Awareness Day, the Cyprus Ports Authority participated in the march that started at the Limassol Town Hall and ended at the Old Port of Limassol Square, lighting up Building B and the "Pleissis" Hall in the Old Port of Limassol in blue, while since the morning of the day, the area of the Old Port Square had been reserved for the activities of the Association.

In his address at the event at the Old Port of Limassol, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Ports Authority, Dr. Antonis St.

"We congratulate the President and the Members of the Pancyprian Association for People with Autism for the campaigns they are undertaking. More importantly, we congratulate the Association for the operation of its programs related to the education, care, socialization and support of people with autism. The World Autism Awareness and Awareness Day was established by UN General Assembly Resolution 62/139 in 2007 and aims at the smooth integration of people with autism into society. The theme of the 2022 events is quality education for all.

People with developmental disorders included in autism spectrum disorders have the same rights as all other people, regardless of their condition. The importance of the day care, education and support programs operated by the Pancyprian Association for People with Autism is indispensable, with science having made tremendous progress in terms of diagnostic criteria, early intervention, necessary tools and support for individuals with autism.

As the Cyprus Ports Authority, we embrace diversity, wherever it originates or comes from. People with autism suffer only from our own behaviour and therefore there is still a way to go to catch up. The Cyprus Port Authority supports the World Autism Awareness Day - blue, after all, is an integral part of us."
