The Office of the Environment Commissioner in cooperation with the Tilliria Community Cluster (Kato Pyrgos, Pano Pyrgos, Mosfili, Pachyammos and Pigenia) are organising Workshop on "Climate Neutral and Green Tilliria" on Saturday, 1 June 2024, from 15:00 to 18:15, in the hall of the Community Council of Kato Pyrgos.
The conference is open to the public and aims to inform public and private bodies, local authorities, NGOs and citizens about climate neutrality and, more generally, about sustainable development and sustainable practices.
Invited speakers at the Workshop, among others, are representatives of the Municipality of Tilos, the first zero waste island in the world.
More specifically, in the context of the Workshop, the model of Tilos as an energy community, its energy transition and social cohesion, as well as the issue of creating climate neutral and green communities will be presented. Participants will also discuss the Climate and Energy Action Plans for the Communities of Cyprus, funding issues and the circular economy.
Speakers at the conference will be Mrs Theodosiou, Commissioner for Environment, Mr Sakellaris, Deputy Mayor of Tilos, Mr Kontos, Secretary General of the Municipality of Tilos, Mr Plumitsakos from POLYGREEN S.A, Mr. Sofokleous Scientific Advisor of Tilliria, Mr. Vlachos Director of the Cyprus Energy Office, Mrs. Delenda from the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, Mr. Gogakis Industrial Applications Officer, Mr. Ioannou Director of Pafos Development Company and Mrs. Charalambous President of the Board of Directors of Cyclokodromo. The conference will be addressed by the representative of the Tillieria Complex Mr. Kleanthous, representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Interior and the President of the Union of Cyprus Communities Mr. Kitromilides.
